Rockdale continues to barely inch by last year’s sales tax numbers staying in the black for March, according to the report from the Texas state comptroller.

Thorndale’s March numbers slumped a bit at $12,924 from the February total of $14,501.

Milano was up almost 39% over figures posted in February.

Rockdale’s neighbor down US 77, Caldwell, recovered a bit in March over the February numbers, but is still behind 2o% in the year-to-date total.

Milam County is still having sales struggles with its year-to-date numbers almost 37 percent below the numbers for the same time period in 2020.

Milam’s threemonth total in 2020 was $558,840.28, while so far this year the county has only brought in $352,900.49 in sales tax revenue returned by the state.

But it is Burleson County, home of Caldwell, that has the biggest uphill climb to overcome. Its return on sale taxes is almost 69 percent lower so far this year than it was at this time last year. It stands at $348,084, while last year was $558,660.
