The sales tax returns for Rockdale from the state comptroller’s office continue to hold a two-digit lead over numbers from the same time last year, according to May figures released by the comptroller’ office.
In fact, the towns in Milam County are all ahead of last year’s pace which was to be expected due to the shut downs of the past past calendar year.
Milano is almost 50 percent ahead of last year’s numbers and is leading the Milam County pack into the black ink.
Rockdale is next, but still about 22 percent off of the pace of Milano numbers.
Lexington in Lee County is showing strong sales, and Caldwell in Burleson County is steadily improving but still down from last year’s total.
Milam County had a better month in May of 2021 than in 2020, but is still more than 26 percent off the pace of the past year.
Lee County continues to post numbers well below totals from the past year.
