Rockdale’s February tax returns from the state’s comptroller’s office were back on the positive side after January’s slight dip.
February of this year was much better to city coffers that last year with the city’s sales tax total up almost 15% over February of 2020.
But for the second month of the year Milam County is lagging behind last year’s total after two months by a little more than 41%.
The city’s development district is keeping in the black with tax receipts at $33,82o which is almost 12% better than this time last year, figures show.
Even though figures are up for Rockdale, the county and the Municipal Development District, February was slower sales wise than January.
Rockdale’s February total of $65,670 was down from last month’s $87,221 total.
Milam County’s February total was almost $32,000 less than January’s total.
The MDD’s February numbers were down almost $9,000.
The other cities in the county didn’t fair any better than Rockdale did.
Buckholts, Cameron, Milano and Thorndale totals for the month were all lower than January’s figures.
Two of the counties, Bell and Falls, that border Milam to the north posted better percentages in February than January, while two counties to the south, Burleson and Lee numbers were down in February from the January numbers.
