Rockdale Independent School District is seeking parent, business and community representatives for openings on the Campus Education Councils.

The purpose of the educational councils is to provide advice to the principals and superintendent but have no regulatory powers. “This is a great opportunity for our parents and community members to provide input to our district,” said Assistant Superintendent Kathy Pelzel. “Our councils play a vital role in our school improvement process, and we look forward to working with all who apply.”

Parent representatives must have students enrolled on the campus for which they apply. Community representatives must reside in the Rockdale ISD, be at least 18 years old, and cannot be the parent of a student currently enrolled in the district. Business representatives must own or operate a business, but the business does not have to be located in the Rockdale ISD.

In an attempt to gather input from more parents and community members whose schedules have not typically allowed participation in such committees, all meetings will be available both in-person and remotely.

Applications are available online at rockdaleisd. net or can be picked up from the RISD administration building. Deadline for submitting applications is Friday, Sept. 27.
