B.J. and Renee Morales both spoke to the Rockdale Independent School Board on Monday night about students wearing masks.

They provided statistics backing their assertions that masks aren’t effective deterrents to the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The board listened, but later when members reviewed the Rockdale Learn Safe Procedures and discussed the use of masks, they decided to continue the use of masks for students at school.

“Rockdale ISD will continue the use of masks at all district facilities as outlined in the TEA public health planning guide with no modifications,” the board said in an email.

The board also renewed the District of Innovation Plan explained by Assistant Superintendent Pam Kaufmann with no changes to the plan which will be in effect through 2026.
