After 16 years, the last five-year grant of the Rockdale iTigers Afterschool program has concluded. However, Rockdale ISD has been awarded a new 5-year grant which is named ACE Tigers (Afterschool Centers on Education). The grant is funded by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program which is administered by the US Department of Education.

In this new grant, only two of the four campuses will have ACE Tigers: the Intermediate campus and the Jr. High campus. Between the two schools, the new grant is worth $276,000 to the community and will serve close to 200 students per year.

Each campus will offer program activities unique to their students, along with some district-wide events. Tutorials, homework help and enrichment activities will be the basis for each program, along with learning opportunities for parents. A healthy evening meal will be served to all students staying after school for that day. ACE classes are Monday through Friday with parent pick-up or limited bus transportation.

ACE Tigers is looking forward to seeing students and parents in great Halloween costumes for our Lights On Afterschool event, Oct. 31, at the Rockdale ISD Trunk or Treat, in the stadium parking lot from 5 to 7 p.m.

Rockdale ACE Vision Statement: Working together in a combined effort to ensure students are provided the opportunity and ability to thrive successfully in a diverse society.

Rockdale ACE Mission Statement: The Rockdale ACE program provides a structured, safe, and supportive place focused on improving academic scores through Math and ELA tutorials, along with encouraging social interaction, positive behavior, and learning through engaging in enrichment classes, while remaining in the school environment.
