A 51-year-old Rockdale man died Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle collision just north of Rockdale on FM 1712.

State Trooper Michael McHale said Christopher Hooks was pronounced dead at the scene, one-and-one-half miles north of Rockdale by Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Sam Berry.

He said Hooks was the driver of a northbound Buick Park Avenue which crossed the center stripe and was in collision with a Dodge 3500 driven by Deborah Gage, 52, of Milano about 8:45 a.m.

McHale said Gage was taken to an area hospital by an AMR ambulance crew.

The farm-market road was shut down for about an hour, he said.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, McHale said.

Vehicle damage was termed extensive.

In addition to the Department of Public Safety, the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department and the Milam County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the scene.

Driver Ana Rodriguez, 36, of Crockett and passengers Angel Gonzales, 10, and Sarah Gonzales, 7, were taken to Baylor Scott & White Hospital, Temple, after a 1 p.m. wreck Sunday on US 79 near County Road 360.

McHale said the vehicle ended up nestled in tree limbs by the roadway.

Vehicle damages were listed as extensive.

A two-vehicle wreck with injuries was reported at 4:55 p.m. Monday on CR 342 near CR 346.

Trooper Jacob Luna listed drivers as David Sarkisian, 46, of Haltom City and Lola Brandstetter, 55, of Milano. Brandstetter was treated at Little River-Rockdale Hospital. Damages were termed extensive.

Trooper Joshua Hendricks said a one-vehicle rollover on FM 2095 near 22 Hills Road sent a 19-year-old Killeen woman to Scott & White at 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Driver was listed as Gabriella Sanchez and damages were termed major.
