Jim Gibson, Rockdale MDD Economic Director, has a lot to be proud of looking back at 2023.
Early last year groundbreaking began on the Cornerstone Subdivision and houses will start going up next month.
He started Rockdale’s comprehensive plan which needed to change since growth is headed this way.
Project Bluebird, a bus repair company, will be housed in the SWAT building across from Rockdale Building Materials Center, and SWAT will move to a new building next door that is currently being built.
He created a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) for Rockdale’s downtown and East Cameron Avenue corridor which will help improve the looks of the town.
The MDD was awarded the $500,000 Texas Department of Agriculture Downtown Revitalization Grant, and completed two façade grants—Main Street Bookshop and East Bell Taphouse.
