The first sales tax rebates for area cities, counties and special districts looked pretty good for just about everyone except two jurisdictions.
However, those two jurisdictions were Rockdale and Milam County
Rockdale was down 5.51 percent, when compared to last January. The city logged $64,6:0 for the first check of 2020, compared to $6 ,54 1 for the initial 201o9 disbursement.
Milam County was down 19.8 1 percent, going from $97,2 7 last year to $7 ,010.
The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD), however, showed an increase.
The MDD total for January was $33,64 7. That’s up 13.95 percent from $29,257 in January, 2019.
(Of course, with the first disbursement of the year, the monthly and year-to-date totals are identical.)
Milam was the only county in the five-county area centered on Milam to post a decrease. ( illiamson and Robertson Counties don’t collect the sales taxes.
Lee County showed a whopping 356-percent increase in the first 2020 checks.
Lee collected $559,098 in its January check. That’s up from $122,4 20 in January, 2019.
