Rockdale’s MLK Day celebration was held on Sunday. The march started at Wolf Park and ended at Sumuel Park where refreshments of juice, sodas and grilled hot dogs were waiting for the marchers.
Some of the marchers are shown turning from East Gertharine Green Avenue on to MLK Drive on Sunday afternoon at left.
Grand Marshal Dorothy Williams speaks to the crowd after the march (bottom left photo). Elissa Benford-Roberts (second photo from left) gave some of Rockdale’s black history to the attendees. Even though Sunday’s celebration was a march, there were plenty of people on wheels including Saige Robertson and Shelby Rose (third photo) on their ATV, and Jonah Martin on his bicycle.
A surprise for William’s sister, Edna Pearl Williams, was everyone singing happy birthday to her. She is shown below with well-wishers Linda Thompson and Randy Mitchell.
