The Rockdale City Council voted to purchase an asphalt zipper for the city at Monday night’s meeting in City Hall.
The asphalt zipper makes quick work of repairing asphalt roadways. It pulverizes the existing and damaged asphalt and turns it into material that can be repaved on the roadway, proponents of the purchase said.
The council also voted to retransfer the fairgrounds back to the Rockdale Fair Association that was approved by Rockdale voters 1,010 to 689 in the Nov. 3 election.
Council members voted to renew the city’s contract with McLane Intelligent Solutions who does information technology work for the city.
