The second reading of a new ordinance at next Monday ’s cit y council meeting is directed at revitalizing Rockdale’s downtown. The new ordinance passed the first reading in January.
The owners of vacant buildings in the downtown area will soon have higher annual fees, a requirement that every building have active water and electricity accounts and a plan for putting the buildings into productive use.
It is hoped that this will help downtown property owners to finally do something with the empty buildings.
