After flirting with the triple-digit plateau for most of June, the mercury edged over it on the first day of July.

The U. S. Weather Service thermometer read an even 100 at KRXT-FM on Sunday.

It wasn’t exactly chilly in the month just past. Several highs of 99 were recorded.

That’s essentially been the pattern for the last three late springs and summers.

In both 2016 and 2017 the same thing happened, lots of high 90s in June and triple digits the first week in July.

In 2017 there were four 100-degrees or more readings in the first week in July. There were many more and the year’s high of 108 was recorded on July 29.

HOT AND HARVEY—It’s unlikely 2018 will duplicate, the remainder of the summer one year ago.

Numerous 100s were recorded in July and the first part of August, but that all came to an end Aug. 25 when Hurricane Harvey came on shore near Corpus Christi.

In less than a week Rockdale proceeded to have the wettest August in the 93 years weather records have been kept here.

A total of 10.09 inches was recorded and that was the end of 100s for the summer.
