Roddam set to retire as RVFD chief

Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ward Roddam has announced his retirement, according to a news release.

Roddam has served the department since he was 18 years old beginning his firefighting career at age 15 with the Minerva Volunteer Fire Department.

He joined as a full member of the RVFD in June of 1990 and has served continuously since that time in all department ranks including becoming chief in 2012.

RVFD’s current first Assistant Chief Herbie Vaughan will step into the fire chief position.

Roddam’s retirement is effective April 12.
