Roundup taking nominations

Nominations for persons to be served by 2019 Christmas Roundup are now being accepted.

Roundup, Rockdale’s annual program of Christmas cheer for the less fortunate, is also accepting donations from the public. During the past week the Cameron Car Club donated $150 to the effort. Donations of money can be made at the Christmas Roundup account at Citizens National Bank or sent to PO Box 766, Rockdale, TX, 76567. Toy donations may be taken to Rockdale Signs, 139 West Cameron (US 79), across from the Old City Hall.

NOMINATIONS—Forms to nominate persons to be served by the 2019 Roundup are now available at The Rockdale Reporter, Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library, One-Stop Center, Citizens National Bank, Classic Bank, Rockdale Federal Credit Union, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Rockdale City Hall and local churches.

Deadline to nominate families or individuals who are in need of assistance this Christmas will be Friday, Dec. 6.

“More than 300 families were served by this program last year,” Allen Sanders, Roundup board member, said. Christmas Roundup is making every effort to work with other agencies in the community to serve as many homes as possible.”

SCHEDULE—The Knights of Columbus Hall on US 79 , east of town, will be open on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 4-7 p.m. to accept Toy donations and for setup.

On Monday Dec. 16, the KC Hall will open at 9 a.m. for volunteers to help fill boxes for delivery to needy families.

“Persons who have designated that they want to pick up their Christmas Roundup boxes will be able to do so from 5-7 p.m. on Monday evening, Dec. 16.

Delivery date for Christmas Roundup boxes will be Tuesday, Dec. 17, beginning at 9 a.m.

“Families who elected to pick up their boxes and did not do so on Monday, Dec. 16, may come to the KC Hall at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, to receive their boxes,” Sanders said.

Volunteers are needed all days, especially on Dec. 17, to help with delivery.
