Sgt. Jody Tillery, the current Rockdale Police Department Officer of the Year, is expected to return to duty next week after sustaining a broken elbow in a traffic accident.

Police said a pickup driven by Larry Sun-dance Young, 45, of Rock-dale pulled out in front of Tillery’s patrol car at 3:34 p.m. last Wednesday (June 6) as the sergeant was responding to a call.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Scarbrough and Belton.

Young was arrested for driving while intoxicated-third offense and on a bond surrender on an original charge of sexual assault/child.

He remains in the county jail in lieu of $95,000 bond.

Damages were listed as major to the pickup and moderate to the patrol car.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich said police have not yet received an insurance report on the patrol car.

DRUG CHARGE—

Goodrich said Thomas Edward Sayre, 54, of Rock-dale, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram) and possession of marijuana (less than two ounces).

He was released on $5,000 bond).

In a case reported in 2016, Teresa Lynn Jordan, 53, of Rockdale, was charged with theft of property (less than $100), enhanced; motion to proceed, credit card/debit card abuse; bond forfeiture-forgery of financial instrument, out-of-county failure to appear.

She remained in custody Tuesday. There was no bond on the bond forfeiture charge and $15,000 bond on the other charges.

CITATIONS—Police issued 169 citations over the past week including 128 for speeding, nine for failure to report change of address/name, eight for displaying expired registration and six for failure to maintain financial responsibility, according to police.
