Milano bus driver, Mary Ruiz, was recognized by Milano Elementary School for her quick actions in saving a child’s life last week.
During a routine afternoon bus route, a young student became unresponsive and another student alerted Ruiz who called 911 and was able to give the dispatcher precise details.
An ambulance rushed to the scene and the young girl was taken to the hospital for tests.
Amid all the chaos, Ruiz was able to keep the other students calm and safe. When Ruiz was asked if she wanted someone else to continue her bus route, she refused saying, “I wanted to get all the students where they were supposed to be.”
The school said they are thankful for her swift actions to save the life of a young girl.
