There were lots of sirens on various calls in a busy week for the South Milam County volunteer fire department during the week just past.

As for police, the Rockdale PD didn’t make any felony arrests and received no reports of accidents within the city limits over the seven-day reporting period ending Monday.

FIRES—Only two of the 10 calls answered by area fire departments involved actual fires as follows:

• 12:54 p.m. Friday, car on fire, Walmart parking lot, Rockdale VFD.

• 1:20 p.m. Saturday, brush fire, 2-1/2 miles south of Rockdale on US 77, Rockdale VFD.

The other eight calls involved accidents (see page 1A), medical runs and a false alarm.

ARRESTS—Rockdale police made three misdemeanor arrests, two on local traffic warrants.

CITATIONS—Pol ic e issued eight tickets, five for speeding and one each for displaying expired registration, displaying wrong or fictitious license plate and driving without a license.

INCIDENTS—Police began investigations during the week on reports of burglary of a building, burglary of a habitation, duty on striking an unattended vehicle, outstanding warrant, loose horse and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

SERVICE CALLS— Officers responded to 288 calls for service and there were 79 calls received through the 911 emergency system.
