The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department was one of the many emergency crews who responded to Franklin Saturday in the wake of a devastating tornado. The U. S. Weather Bureau termed the twister an EF-3—winds at least 158 miles per hour. Saturday’s storm wasn’t as serious in Milam County but there were reports of trees down and property damage. The tornado came exactly one week after an EF-0 struck San Gabriel in Milam County.
