Zoe Clore and Sam Battles, Milano High School students were selected to attend RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) Camp. The RYLA program is an intensive training experience for incoming juniors and seniors. This is a co-ed weeklong camp held at Peaceable Kingdom in Killeen, TX July 9-14. Fifty boys and girls were selected from 60 Rotary clubs in District 5870 in Central Texas.

Camp RYLA provides an opportunity to exchange ideas, opinions and beliefs with other students in a relaxed, retreat style setting. They were encouraged to tear down the walls by trying new things and exploring new roles. They developed new friendships and became more effective role models, team players and leaders. They explored and developed leadership skills through problem solving and team building.

“These campers were proudly sponsored by the Rockdale Rotary Club as a way to support leadership development in our community. Club President Chuck Keagy is pictured with the campers,” said spokesperson Gaye Bland.

Applications for camp in 2024 will be available for incoming sophomores and juniors from Rockdale, Milano and Thorndale in January 2024. Each school will have the information along with posts on our Facebook page and in The Rockdale Reporter.
