A little good news for Rockdale and the Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) in the monthly sales tax checks disbursed last week by the state.

Even though their year-to-date totals remain down slightly from 2018, both registered increases in the July checks compared to July of last year.

State Comptroller Glenn Hegar disbursed July sales tax checks last week. July checks represent sales taxes collected in May and reported to the state in June

Milam County’s $534,138 collected so far this year represents a 7.81 percent decrease over 2017 collections of $579,425 over the same period.

For the month, the county total was $80,663, down 1.46 percent over the July, 2017 total, $81,861.

The City of Rockdale’s July total was $66,223.

That’s up 9.82 percent from the July, 2017 check, $60,296.

For the year, Rockdale is down 2.42 percent, from $452,156 to $441,179.

The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) was also up for the month and down for the year.

The MDD total for July was $33,213. That’s up 13.33 percent from $29,306 in July, 2017.

For the year, the Rockdale MDD is down 1.3 percent, from $219,841 to $216,961.

The City of Cameron received a check for $61,706, down 4.57 percent from the $64,664 reported for July, 2017.

For the year, Cameron receipts are down 1.09 percent, from $481,951 to $476,662.

Milano’s July check of $6,133 was down 4.66 percent from the July, 2017, total of $6,433.

For the year, Milano is up 4.56 percent, from $47,114 to $49,265.

Thorndale’s July check was $11,992. That’s up 11.76 percent from $10,729 in July, 2017.

Buckholts registered a 34.32-percent increase for the month. Its July, 2018, check was $1,489, up from the July, 2017, figure of $1,109 For the year, Buckholts is up 13.29 percent, from $9,328 to $10,568.

Of Milam’s adjacent counties which collect sales taxes, only Lee County was down both for the month and year, while Bell, Burleson and Falls registered for-the-year increases.
