The City 0f Rockdale and the Rock-dale Municipal Development District (MDD) posted monthly increases in the latest round of sales tax rebate checks
State Comptroller Glenn Hegar disbursed September sales tax checks last week. September checks represent sales taxes collected in July and reported to the state in August
The City of Rockdale’s September total was $60,200.
That’s up 7.22 percent from the September, 2017 check, $56,145.
It almost brought Rockdale back to even with last year. For the year, Rockdale is down just 1.48 percent, going from $582,085 to $573,436.
The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) was also up for the month and very slightly down for the year.
The MDD total for September was $30,420. That’s up 11.29 percent from $27,332 in September, 2017.
For the year, the Rockdale is down 0.14 percent, from $282,076 to $281,676.
Milam County’s $702,223 collected so far this year represents a 5.9 percent decrease over 2017 collections of $746,321 over the same period.
For the month, the county total was $76,297, down 2.79 percent over the September, 2017 total, $78.488.
The City of Cameron received a check for $64,562 up 6.57 percent from the $60,580 reported for September, 2017.
For the year, Cameron receipts are up 2.49 percent, from $619,474 to $634,948.
Milano’s September check of $7,148 was down 16.27 percent from the September, 2017, total of $8,538.
For the year, Milano is up 2.93 percent, from $62,576 to $64,410.
Thorndale’s September check was $11,911. That’s up 23.57 percent from $9,638 in September, 2017.
For the year, Thorndale is up 5.76 percent, from 107,037 to 113,207.
Buckholts registered an 11.19-percent decrease for the month. Its September, 2018, check was $1,438, down from the September, 2017, figure of $1,619 For the year, Buckholts is up 12.4 percent, from $12,513 to $14,065.
Of Milam’s adjacent counties which collect sales taxes, all were up for both the month and year, with the exception of Lee County which is down 6.68 percent for the year.
