This was the month Milam County has been waiting for all year, so far as sales tax receipts are concerned.
Milam is still “in the red” for the year, but the November rebate of $106,519 took a chunk out the deficit.
That’s 15.96-percent better than the November, 2017, rebate of $91,855. Milam is still down 3.2-percent for the year ($914,669 to $885,323) but it was down 5.34 before the sizable November rebate was announced.
State Comptroller Glenn Hegar disbursed November sales tax checks last week. November checks represent sales taxes collected in September and reported to the state in October.
The City of Rockdale’s November total was $71,601, down 1.56 percent from $72,740 last year.
For the year, Rockdale is down 3.24 percent, going from $726,848 to $703,296.
The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) was almost identical, both for the month and the year.
The MDD total for November was $33,085. That’s down 1.57 percent from $33,612 in November, 2017.
For the year, the Rock-dale MDD is up 0.43 percent, from $342,762 to $344,3262.
The City of Cameron received a check for $82,856, down 19.92 percent from $103,469 reported for November, 2017.
For the year, Cameron receipts are down 0.09 percent, from $784,131 to $783,358.
Milano’s November check of $6,901 was down 3.83 percent from the November, 2017, total of $7,176.
For the year, Milano is up 2.97 percent, from $75,642 to $77,893.
Thorndale’s November check was $15,424. That’s up 24.84 percent from $12,354 in November, 2017.
For the year, Thorndale is up 3.76 percent, from 133,857 to 138,890.
Buckholts registered a 17.02-percent increase for the month. Its November, 2018, check was $1,993, up from the November, 2017, figure of $1,703. For the year, Buckholts is up 13.23 percent, from $15,525 to $17,579.
Of Milam’s adjacent counties which collect sales taxes, all were up for the month and only Lee County was down for the year, falling 4.16 percent. Biggest yearly increase was in Burleson County which went up 31.99 percent
