The San Andres Rapids

Here’s what the corner of Burleson and San Andres looked like around sunrise Friday after most of a weekend 7-inch-rain pelted Rockdale overnight Thursday and early Friday. Numerous intersections and sections of some streets were flooded. Police, firefighters and city crews were called into action to block off affected areas and warn drivers. Nevertheless, Police Chief Thomas Harris said several persons drove into the water and stalled out. No injuries were reported and there were no evacuations. of Rockdale homes, the waters receded quickly and streets re-opened during the morning. But nobody is breathing any sighs of relief. More rain is forecast later this week, perhaps much more, with the possibility of violent weather.
