POLICE REPORT

A report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle ended in a crash with major damages and an arrest early Saturday.

Rakeem Kerrell Wyatt, 25, of Rockdale was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and driving without a license after the 2:10 a.m. crash at the Scarbrough-Murray intersection.

He remains in custody on $7,000 bond.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich said police were advised by a person acquainted with the suspect that a vehicle had been taken without permission.

The crash occurred shortly thereafter and involved a 2017 Ford Focus which collided with a tree.

Extensive damages were reported.

ARRESTS—Two other felony arrests were made during the reporting period as follows:

• Edward James Miller, 54, Rockdale, evading arrest with vehicle, in custody on $25,000 bond. (Story in last week’s police report in The Reporter.

• Matthew Christopher Kane, 23, Rockdale, out-of-county sex offender’s duty to register for life annually, in custody on $10,000 bond.

ACCIDENTS—The collision noted above was the only one investigated by Rockdale police during the past seven days.

INCIDENTS—Incidents reported to police included animal at large, assault by physical contact, driving with license invalid, expired driver’s license, no drivers license, evading arrest or detention with vehicle, outstanding warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia.

WARRANTS—Police served one warrant during the week, a local document for driving with license invalid.

CITATIONS—Police issued 29 citations during the seven-day reporting period, 24 for speeding, two for expired driver’s license and one each for not insurance, expired registration and running a red light.

SERVICE CALLS—Officers responded to 144 service calls and there were 77 calls received through the 911 emergency system.
