SHERIFF’S REPORT
The Milam County Sheriff’s Department, and Cameron police, are warning residents of a scammer pretending to be associated with a power company.
They said the scammer is making direct calls to residents claiming to be with Reliant Energy and warning potential victims they “are behind in their payments and must pay immediately or their power will be cut off.
The departments warn the scammer is “extremely push and forceful.”
The recommended action is simple. Hang up.
Milam residents are asked to be on the lookout for the scam.
