MILAM 4-H NEWS
On May 21, Milam County 4-H member Scott Widner was awarded with $6,500 in scholarships because of his achievements in 4-H.
Scholarships received included: Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship/Stiles Farm Foundation Scholarship, $4,500; Blackland Income Growth Scholarship, $1,000; Milam County 4-H Foundation Scholarship/ Chris Holcombe Memorial Scholarship, $500; and Extension Educational Association Scholarship, $500.
Widner said he is incredibly thankful for the opportunities 4-H has provided.
He competes in 4-H events such as consumer decision making, healthy lifestyles, Ag Product ID and educational presentations.
He is currently serving as a District 8 Vice President and Texas 4-H Healthy Youth Ambassador and was awarded the Gold Star Award in 2018.
He plans to combine his two passions by majoring in agribusiness and minoring in computer information security.
He plans to attend Texas A&M University in the fall. Scott attends Thorndale High School and is the son of Kevin and Cindy Widner.
He is a member of the Thorndale 4-H Club. Congratulations Scott, on receiving some amazing and wonderful scholarships this year.
SUMMER PROGRAMS—Texas A&M Agri-Life Extension Service and Milam County 4-H will hold 2 free day camps and some other fun activities this summer.
Fun Day Camp will be held June 7 and is for Clovers through K-second grade and will be at the Bea’s Kitchen in Cameron.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 12-noon.
We will have a lot of fun relays and water games. Please wear swim suit. Please make sure you call to register.
Pinterest Camp (used to be FCS Camp) will be July 19th at the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Cameron from 9 a.m. to 12-noon.
We will have some fun activities related to Pinter-est at this camp.
This is also a new time than last year. Please make sure you call to register.
Lastly, we will hold the Playstreets family fun days at the Cameron Elementary playground starting July 16th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
