At Monday night’s RISD school board meeting, the board heard a report from At-Risk Specialist Kristi Moreland, updating the board on attendance concerns in the district. Moreland reported on truancy prevention measures the district is using to work with students on the importance of attending school every day.
APPROVALS—The board approved the adult lunch price for meals purchased through the RISD Food Service Department as $4.15 effective immediately. This mid-year change was required to meet Texas Department of Agriculture regulations.
The board approved the Spring Board curriculum materials for High School ELA 1, ELA 2, ELA (Grades 6, 7, 8), and Geometry.
CHAPTER 313—The board also adopted the findings pursuant to Chapter 313 of the Texas Property Code in connection with Application No. 1617 from Sandow Lakes Ranch Solar I, LLC. Chapter 313 is much like a tax abatement but it has to do with schools rather than a city or county. The board approved the Agreement for Value Limitation for School District Maintenance and Operations Taxes pursuant to Chapter 313 of the Texas Property Tax Code from Sandow Lakes Ranch Solar I, LLC, Comptroller Application No. 1617. The board heard a presentation and discussion of the status of current and possible future Chapter 313 projects.
MEMORANDUMS—The board approved a Memorandum of Understanding providing pediatric and adolescent behavioral health services via telehealth between Texas A&M University Health Science Center on behalf of the College of Medicine and Rockdale ISD.
Also approved was a Memorandum of Understanding between Workforce Solutions of Central Texas and Rockdale ISD to set forth the terms and conditions of an Education Outreach Program in the district.
HIRINGS—The board was informed of the following non-certified hires: Jaycee Stewart-Maciel, RJH Attendance Secretary. The board was also informed of the following certified resignations/retirements: Anna Bland, RJH Math Teacher; Alexis Fields, RJH Math Teacher; Barton Gibbs, RHS Football Coach; Paige Martinez, RHS CTE Teacher; Marcus McNeil, HS Algebra Teacher; Glenda Walker, RHS Yearbook Teacher; Angela White, RJH Counselor.
RESIGNATIONS—The board was informed of the following non-certified resignations: Tiffany Maberry, Food Service; Amanda Rennemeyer, TLC Child Care Provider; Cece Talbott, Payroll/Benefits Specialist.
CONTINUATIONS—The board was notified of the continued employment of the following non-certified directors: Cody Dudley, Director of Maintenance; Robert Hunter, Director of Transportation; and Ken Swiech, Director of Technology.
RENEWALS—The board approved the renewal of the following contracts for Certified Directors: Adrian Acevedo, Director of Bands; Jacob Campsey, Director of Athletics; Rebecca King, Director of Communications and Digital Learning; Kathy Pelzel, Director of Intervention; and Britina Pesak, Executive Director of College and Career Readiness.
