POLICE REPORT

For the second time in two and one-half weeks there has been a serious vehicle-pedestrian accident in front of the Budget Inn West Cameron Avenue (US 79).

Police said Daryl Paul Reed, 63, of Rockdale was struck at 6:20 p.m. Monday by a Toyota Carryall driven by William Beene of Rockdale.

Reed was flown from the helipad of now-closed Little River-Rockdale Hospital to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple where he was reported in stable condition Tuesday afternoon.

Police said Reed sustained serious injuries.

At 6:22 p.m. Nov. 22, 74-year-old James Crowder—like Reed a resident of the Budget Inn—was hit while crossing the highway.

Crowder also sustained serious injuries, including broken bones and a head injury.

ACCIDENTS—It was one of five accidents investigated by police during the week.

At 2:18 p.m. Thursday police were called to a collision between two pickups at the Wilcox-Cameron (FM 487-US 79) intersection.

Drivers were listed as Jimmy Palmo of Rockdale and Debara Shirley of Caldwell. Police said a passenger in the Shirley vehicle reported back pain.

Damages were termed moderate to the Shirley vehicle and no damage was reported to the Palmo pickup.

Police said a vehicle driven by Robert Springer of Rock-dale sustained major damage when it ran through a fence on FM 908 south at 12:36 a.m. Saturday.

Minor to moderate damages were reported at 5:12 p.m. Monday in a two-vehicle collision at the West Cameron (US 79)-Meadow intersection.

Drivers were listed as Carl Miller and Sandra Kunkel, both of Rockdale.

Police said a two-vehicle collision was reported in the 600 block of West Cameron (US 79) at 5:53 p.m. Monday.

Drivers were listed as Isaias Balderas and Megan Chlaposki, both of Rockdale.

Damages were termed minor to moderate.

SERVICE CALLS—

During the past week, Rock-dale police responded to 180 calls for service and there were 86 calls received through the 911 emergency system.
