Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is emerging as an integral part of classroom instruction; improving academic achievement, mental health and ability to manage stress and competing demands.
SEL is a research based movement that provides students with tools to manage emotions, navigate problems effectively, and foster positive relationships among peers.
One way Rockdale Junior High is supporting students’ social emotional needs, is through the Counselor Lunch and Earn Series.
Students are selected in groups of 10 to participate in five sessions as part of a character education series.
Students participate in group activities including discussions, role playing, debate and reflections.
