POLICE REPORT

A 74-year-old Rockdale man remains in Baylor Scott & White Hospital, Temple, after he was struck by a car Thanksgiving evening.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich said James Crowder was struck at 6:22 p.m. in the 700 block of West Cameron (US 79) in front of the Budget Inn.

Crowder was rushed to Little River Rockdale Hospital then transferred to Baylor Scott & White.

“He has broken bones and a head injury,” Goodrich said. “He’s stable. In fact, he was conscious and was talking at the accident scene.”

Driver of the vehicle—a 2004 Chrysler Sebring, was listed as Michael Hawkins.

ACCIDENTS—Three other traffic mishaps were investigated by police during the week.

Police said an unattended vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle at 9:59 p.m. Nov. 21 in the 500 block of East Bell.

Owners were listed as Delpha Garza Davis and Darla Mae McCalley, both of Rockdale.

Police were called to the intersection of Belton and Crockett at 7:53 p.m. Friday for a vehicle-deer collision.

Driver was listed as Stella Herrera of Rockdale.

A collision in the parking lot of Tortugas, 1121 West Cameron (US 79) was reported at 6:03 p.m. Sunday.

Drivers were listed as Randy Reese of Rockdale and Casey Laub of Bryan.

Police said both vehicles sustained minor damage.

ARREST—Goodrich said a hand-written note threatening “bodily injury” against a specific Rockdale policeman, was the cause of an arrest Nov. 21.

Buck Dakota Garza, 22, was charged with terroristic threat against peace officer/ judge and remained in custody at presstime in lieu of $5,000 bond.

OFFENSES—Police are investigating the thefts of a laptop computer from Walmart and of a pair of boots from Tractor Supply.

CITATIONS—Police issued 21 speeding tickets during the past week, along with four for expired registration, three for failure to maintain financial responsibility and one each for running a red light and running a stop sign

SERVICE CALLS—Officers responded to 165 calls for service during the past week and there were 85 calls received through the 911 emergency system.
