The Milam County Sheriff’s Department now has a new website with tons of information available with a click or two.
That includes one of the most asked-for features by Texans, quick information on the locations of registered sex offenders in the county.
Sheriff Chris White said the new web address is https://www.milamcountysherifftx.org.
Go there and you immediately see five buttons. Click on the one marked “sex offenders,” click “accept” and you are immediately presented with a map showing residences of convicted sex offenders.
It contains offender photos and profile information about the offenses.
JAIL, CRIME—Thats not all, of course.
The website features an interactive crime map, allowing the public to view locations where crimes have occurred within the county.
“The crime map displays icon pinpoints for 16 specific crime types,” White said. “Visitors may choose to view all crime categories or select to view by specific crime type or year.”
Another feature is a jail roster which allows the public to view photos and information for inmates who are currently booked into the Milam County Jail or who have been released within the past 48 hours.
Other functions include:
• Alert Notifications—Allows the public to sign up for alert notifications from the Sheriff’s Office via email or text – including sex offender notifications, press releases, and jail roster updates.
• Press Releases—Allows the public to view a list in date order, sorted by year, of press release and news items posted by the Sheriff’s Offi ce.
“Our goal with the website is to provide transparency between our office and the public,” White said.
“We want the public to understand how this office serves the community, residents, and visitors. We want our community members to have the information they need, when they need it. The responsive design allows users to quickly and conveniently access the Website information on the device of their choice—desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone,” White said.
“My intent is for every County resident to visit the site and become familiar with how to submit crime tips, receive alerts, and where to find the latest news and updates from the sheriff’s office,” White said.
INPUT—The sheriff said the website will also have a place to leave compliments and complaints in its “Services” section.
“I will personally review all of those,” White said. “We believe the website will be a huge benefit to the sheriff’s office as well as the residents of Milam County.”
