Extremely low temperatures brought a slowdown to activity in Milam County earlier this week. County offices and Rockdale City Hall were closed as were some retail outlets while others shortened their hours. Garbage collection in Rockdale was suspended during the first part of the week due to the severe winter weather that saw temperatures drop as low as 8 degrees, according to the AccuWeather website. Depending on where one lives in the county four to eight inches of snow fell in the second major snowfall of 2021. The old Alcoa plant is in the background of this snow scene from Monday.
