The annual Milam and Burleson Counties Groundwater Summit will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Caldwell Civic Center. The summit is free and open to the public with lunch provided.
Gregory Perry, POSGCD’s water resource management specialist, and Michael Redman, POSGCD’s regulatory compliance specialist, will explain the critical well monitoring results for the year. Well monitoring is one of the ways POSGCD accomplishes their goals to preserve, conserve and protect groundwater resources in Burleson and Milam counties. The two will update the aggressive well monitoring network to ensure compliance with the district’s management plan.
“This network allows us to keep our eye on the water levels in the aquifers in our district,” said POSGCD General Manager Gary Westbrook.
Bobby Bazan, executive director of Texas Ground Water Association (TGWA), will explain how important TWGA is for local well owners. They support the interests and welfare of Texas water well drillers and the Texas water well industry.
“Citizens of Milam and Burleson counties, as well as surrounding areas, can benefit from attending the Groundwater Summit,” Westbrook added. “Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District organizes the event and invites groundwater experts from across Texas to come speak at the local level.”
“It is a great opportunity for people to come and learn about the state’s requirements on local groundwater management and stay up to date on current groundwater issues, such as property rights and groundwater management,” Westbrook said.
