If the February sales tax checks are any indication, 2019 just might be the year for which the City of Rockdale and Milam County have been waiting.
Rockdale is up 8.54 percent for the month and 12.10 percent for the year-to-date.
And Milam County is up an astonishing 29.73 percent for the month and 28.41 percent for the year.
State Comptroller Glenn Hegar disbursed February sales tax checks last week.
The City of Rockdale’s February total was $85,298.
That’s up 8.54 percent from the February, 2018 check, $78,585.
For the year, Rockdale is up 12.10 percent, going from $137,224 to $153,839.
Milam County’s $205,732 collected so far this year represents a 28.41 percent increase over 2018 collections of $160,203 for the same period.
For the month, the county total was $108,444, up 29.73 percent over the February, 2018 total, $83,589.
The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) joined in the positive trend.
The MDD total for February was $41,259. That’s up 10.55 percent from $37,319 in February, 2018.
For the year, the Rockdale MDD is up 6.24 percent, from $66,623 to $70,786.
