POLICE REPORT

What began as a simple speeding stop ended with highway chase from Rockdale to Milano, and the arrest of a 39-year-old Houston woman last Tuesday night.

Police Chief Thomas Harris said Ofc. Joah McCaleb had stopped a vehicle at the Cameron (US 79)-Rice intersection and had determined there was a pending Brazos County warrant on the driver when the pursuit began.

Harris said the sheriff’s department ended the chase with spike strips.

Wynetta Shelice Archie was charged with out-of-county criminal mischief ($750 to $2,500) and evading arrest/detention with vehicle. She was released on $13,000 bond.

FORGERY—Harris said a stolen check case which began in Lee County, and included some forged checks passed at Midway Grocery in Rockdale, ended with the arrest of a 33-year-old Rockdale man.

Robert Salomon was charged with forgery of financial instrument, two counts, failure to ID fugitive/intentionally giving false info, non-payment of child support and an out-of-county forgery.

He remains in custody on $23,500 bond.

GAS DRIVE-OFFS— Harris said an investigation by Sgt. Jody Tillery led to an arrest in a series of gas drive-offs.

Christopher Alan Barr, 48, of Rockdale was charged Monday with theft of property (less than $2,500) with two or more previous convictions. Bond information was not available.

ACCIDENT—Police were called to an accident in the Walmart parking lot at 7:41 p.m. Saturday.

Drivers were listed as Jeffrey Deweese of Rock-dale and Michael Juranek of Taylor. Damages were termed minor.

SERVICE CALLS— Officers responded to 174 calls for service during the week just past.

There were also 113 calls received through the 911 emergency system.

FACEBOOK—Police were able to achieve deletion of what was termed an “impersonation” in a Face-book account after receiving a complaint.
