Stained glass from the former Dr. Rob Wallis house, was dedicated Friday at the city library in honor of two Rockdale historians. Dr. Lucile Estell left (with Milam Historical Commission Chair Lynn Young), was honored along with the late Joy Graham. This stained glass window—along with a smaller lunette, also preserved at the library—were painstakingly preserved by the commission after the historic house, thought to be Rockdale’s oldest, burned on Jan. 19, 2016. In addition to Dr. Estell and Young, other speakers were Geri Burnett, former MC Historical Commission chair; Chris Whittaker, city manager; Melanie Todd, librarian; and John Pruett, president of the Rancheria Grande chapter, El Camino de los Tejas National Trail Association.
