Fair Park will once again be the place to bring that trash to stash it.
On April 17 from 8 a.m. to noon residents of Rockdale can bring that stuff that has been accumulating over the winter and have city workers unload those items in large trash bin, so you can drive away with a lighter load.
Old furniture, mattresses and other household items can be disposed of at Stash Your Trash.
But there are some items that cannot be stashed in this trash gathering. So don’t bring motor oil as it will not be accepted. Don’t bring batteries, items that contain refrigerants, hazardous chemicals or containers of paint. Tires will also not be accepted, so don’t bother bringing them to the event.
If you want to bring tree limbs, clip them because there will be free chipping for limbs four inches in diameter and smaller at the park if they are in a truck bed or trailer.
Also separate metal from the other trash before you get to the park.
The event will require both social distancing and face coverings for all the people who bring trash to stash.
Residency will be verified at the site or people can show their driver’s licenses and a water bill to prove they live in the city.
A city official said that those who might need help getting their stashable trash to Fair Park may call Public Works at 512-446-2511 to see if assistance is available.
Free dirt will be available at the Wastewater Treatment Plant on a first come, first served basis.
City staffers will scoop the dirt into truck beds or trailers and there are, of course, no free deliveries.
