Sunday, Nov. 28, marked the first day of the Advent season and the beginning of the Church year. It is a time of reflection, waiting and preparation for the birth of Jesus Christ.
The Advent season lasts for four Sundays leading up to Christmas and is a time of anticipation and expectation for the coming celebration of our Lord’s nativity. Below is information about services and events at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church. We hope you will join us as often as you are able as we reflect on the messages of hope, love, joy and peace that prepare us for the coming of Christ.
Thursday, Dec. 2—The R ene w a l of Ministry with the Installation of a New Vicar Join us as we celebrate the institution of The Reverend Michele C. Bonner as the 16th Vicar of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church. The service begins at 6 p.m. with The Right Reverend Kathryn M. Ryan, Bishop Suffragan of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, presiding. A reception follows in the parish hall. Due to the number of anticipated guests, masks are required to be worn during the service.
Sunday—Second Sunday of Advent. We will gather for a Celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 11 a.m.
Sunday, Dec. 12—Third Sunday of Advent. Join us for the Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols at 6 p.m. The service centers around Bible readings (lessons) that tell the Christmas story. Throughout the service, we will sing carols for the Advent and Christmas seasons. There will be no 11 a.m. service.
Sunday, Dec. 19—Fourth Sunday of Advent. We will gather for a Celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 11a.m.
Friday, Dec. 24—Christmas Eve We will gather for a Celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 6 p.m. A reception follows in the parish hall.
Sunday, Dec. 26—First Sunday after Christmas. We will gather for a Celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 11 a.m.
