POLICE REPORT

Forgotten about the human bones found near FM 908 last December?

Rockdale police haven’t and neither has the state of Texas.

Police Chief Thomas Harris said his department was contacted Monday by a state agency in its quest to identify the remains.

“They want to know more about our investigation, which we provided,” Harris said.

Most of a human skeleton was found at different times last fall inside the southern city limits off FM 908.

Harris said at the time police theorized the remains were those of a male due to the clothing and watch found with them.

The Texas Rangers were called in to assist.

THEFTS—Harris said police continue to investigate what is believed to be the daylight theft of numerous items placed along Main Street (FM 908) as part of an ongoing construction project.

“These include barricades, four large flashing markers, route markers and other items,” he said.

But police are hoping extensive video security in the equipment will provide clues as they search for the perpetrator, or perpetrators.

“Several businesses in the area have video equipment trained on that stretch of road,” he said.

ARREST—A traffic stop by Sgt. Jody Tillery led to a drug arrest just after midnight.

Harris said Tillery stopped a vehicle he believed was driven by a person without a license and found a substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Christopher Michael Garcia, 40, of Rockdale, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (1 to 4 grams), and was released on $20,000 bond.

ACCIDENT—Major damages, and minor injuries, were reported in a two-vehicle accident at 3:54 p.m. Thursday.

Police said a disabled, unoccupied vehicle registered to LaShonna Moore was left on US 79 near Rockdale Iron & Metal where it was struck by a vehicle operated by Carlos Santellano.

SERVICE CALLS— Officers responded to 168 calls for service during the week and there were 101 calls received through the 911 emergency system.
