NOT QUITE—Those somewhat mysterious granite blocks which have appeared at Veterans Park (above) and several other places are a security feature installed by the City of Rockdale. “They are for protection of our residents, City Manager Chris Whittaker said. “There have been incidents where vehicles have been used to target tourists and pedestrians. We put the same blocks at City Hall to protect Municipal court. They are great because they double as seating. The blocks help delineate parking too. This is a common practice in a lot of parks in Central Texas,” he said.
