FIRE CALLS
The National Weather Service activated area storm spotters Friday as a severe thunderstorm bore down on Milam County.
At 10:37 p.m. the NWS notified the Rockdale, Milano, Thorndale and Gause VFDs a severe thunderstorm with ping-pong-ball-sized hail, heavy rain and 60 mile-per-hour winds had been spotted west of Belton and was moving from Bell County towards Milam County.
During the evening a tornado had been confirmed in Williamson County in an earlier storm.
However, the fast-moving severe weather missed the Rockdale area and the NWS cleared the Milam storm spotters at 11:37 p.m.
The severe thunderstorm watch ended at midnight but cold air continued to push southward.
OTHER CALLS—
Thorndale volunteers made two calls to St. Paul Lutheran Church during the week for reports of burning odors.
Those calls were toned out at 1:10 p.m. April 3 and 9:02 a.m. Saturday.
The Rockdale VFD responded to a hot water heater fire at 5:02 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Beverly Drive.
