Rockdale police have arrested three Rockdale High School students in connection with a recent rash of vehicle burglaries.
Lt. Stephen Goodrich said the three are two adults and one 16-year-old male juvenile.
Charged Saturday with burglary of a vehicle were John (J.J.) Moreno, 18, and 17-year-old Malaki McKenzie, both of Rockdale.
Moreno posted $1,500 bail and was released the same day while McKenzie remained in the Milam County Jail at presstime.
Juvenile authorities are handling the case of the third suspect.
Lt. Goodrich said police had received reports of four to five burglaries, all involving unlocked vehicles.
“But the suspects confessed to probably 20 to 25 burglaries,” Goodrich said. “This, of course makes us believe a lot of incidents were not reported by the victims.”
Goodrich termed the items taken “loose change.” He noted there had been reports of similar break-ins from the Thorndale-Thrall area.
“So far as we can tell, all of the burglaries in connection with these arrests were in Rockdale,” he said.
