Milam County Sheriff's Office responded to a mental health crisis call in the 3000 block of CR 322 last Thursday for a possible suicidal subject with a firearm.
Units arriving saw a white GMC truck driven by Arvin Jones leave the premises and so they turned around to follow. After initiating a traffic stop of the subject vehicle, deputies observed the driver lean over in the seat and then never move again. To secure the scene, deputies shut down US 79 near CR 338 just west of Milano.
Sheriff Mike Clore said that because the subject was believed to be armed, the situation called for a tactical response. Deputies used an armored vehicle to approach the vehicle, only to find the subject deceased.
