Groundwater Well Assistance Program (GWAP) will be on the agenda when the Milam and Burleson Counties Groundwater Summit convenes Aug. 12 in the Caldwell Civic Center at 103 West SH 21 in Caldwell.
The board adopted the assistance program to aid owners of water wells in the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer in Burleson and Milam counties who experience loss of service due to water levels dropping below the pump. This is caused by aquifer-wide pumping. The program aims to take corrective actions, identify water wells expected to experience problems and to prevent that loss of service.
Bobby Bazan, a water resource management specialist, will explain well monitoring results for the year. Well monitoring is one of the ways Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District insures our goals Texas to preserve, conserve and protect groundwater resources in Burleson and Milam counties
