A Friday traffic stop led Rockdale police to arrest a 26-year-old Taylor man they had been seeking since a Dec. 12 chase around a Rockdale ISD campus.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich said Roman Manuel Ramos was charged with evading arrest/ deterioration with vehicle, possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram) in a drug-free zone, possession of marijuana (less than two ounces) in a drug-free zone, and intent to give false info,

He remains in custody on $36,000 bond.

Goodrich identified Ramos as the suspect in the December incident in which police attempted to pull over the driver for speeding in a school zone but he sped away.

Goodrich said the chase went through streets in the neighborhood of the high school and at one point the driver went into a field between RHS and the baseball complex.

“The vehicle stopped behind Sonic and the driver fled on foot,” Goodrich said.

“The passenger remained in the vehicle and was cooperative,” he said.

Goodrich said a small amount of meth and marijuana were found.

ACCIDENTS—Police were called to two-vehicle collision in the Cefco parking lot at 5:24 a.m. Dec. 19.

Drivers were listed as John McMahon and Margarita Alvarez, both of Rock-dale.

Minor damages were reported to the Alvarez car and no damage was listed for the McMahon pickup.

Damage estimates were not available for what police termed a “minor accident” at the Scarbrough-Bell intersection at 2:25 p.m. Thursday.

Drivers were listed as Kelly Payne and Charles Holder, both of Rockdale.

CITATIONS—Police issued 43 citations during the past week including 24 for speeding, five each for displaying expired registration and driving while license invalid and two for failure to maintain financial responsibility.

SERVICE CALLS—Officers responded to 147 total calls for service during th week just past and there were 68 calls received through the 911 emergency system.

INCIDENTS—Police investigated a shoplifting incident at Walmart during the past week
