POLICE REPORT
Police are searching for three suspects wanted in a break-in at Midway Grocery which also resulted in a chase by a Rockdale officer.
Lt. Stephen Goodrich said a rock was used to shatter a door at the convenience store and $50 in cash, along with cigarettes and cigars were taken.
“Ofc. David Stephens spotted the three near the football field construction site and gave chase,” Goodrich said.
Later, an ankle monitor believed to have been worn by one of the suspects was found.
Goodrich said that suspect has also been reported as a runaway.
INDECENCY—Goodrich said a 13-year-old male has been arrested on two warrants for indecency with a child.
He said the charges involve “inappropriate touching” on a summer school bus.
ASSAULT—A Friday call resulted in the arrest of a 22-year-old Rockdale man for assault causes bodily injury violence with previous conviction.
Justin Van Winkle remains in the county jail in lieu of $20,000 bond.
In the week’s other felony arrest, Tevin Wayne Mitchell, 24, of Rockdale, was arrested on a Milam County warrant for motion to proceed theft of property (less than $2,500), two or more previous convictions). He was released on $5,000 bond.
ACCIDENT—Police responded to one traffic accident during the past week.
Vehicles involved were operated by Mercedes Guerra and Richard Tibbitts, both of Rockdale.
Minor damages were reported.
CITATIONS—Police issued 75 speeding tickets during the past week.
Other citations issued included eight for expired registration, four for failure to maintain financial responsibility, two for failure to report change of address or name and one each for animal at large, no rabies vaccination, fictitious registration/license plate inspection, open container violation (passenger), passing unauthorized emergency vehicle and expired driver’s license.
SERVICE CALLS— There were 106 calls for service and 99 calls through the 911 system during the week.
