—Mother Nature fired both barrels at Milam County over the weekend. In addition to tornadoes and hail, rain sent Brushy Creek, the San Gabriel River and tributaries out of their banks beginning Sunday. This view from high above US 79 just east of Thorndale looks south over the Brushy Creek bottomland. Such flooding is a familiar occurrence in Central Milam. Photographer Mona Zimmerman, assisted by pilot Jimmy Cox, provided this photo for The Reporter. By Wednesday morning all major roads were open with a handful of county roads will closed.
