State legislation which enabled the Rockdale ISD to lower its tax rate, counter the effects of the loss of Luminant from the tax rolls and grant substantial salary increases is also having a positive effect on area school districts:
Thorndale rate going from $1.17 to $1.07
THORNDALE—Taxpayers in the Thorndale ISD will see their tax rates drop by 10 cents this fall after action by the TISD school board Monday evening.
Business Manager Rebecca Peel presented a $1.06835 rate for the board’s consideration. Trustees approved the rate on a unanimous vote.
Supt. Adam Ivy pointed out that is s slightly more than 10-cent decrease from the current $1.17. “That’s a significant savings for taxpayers,” he said.
BUSES—Also Monday, Ivy said the district has written a grant which would pay 80 percent of four new buses for the district. Trustees okayed a $432,000 expenditures with all but $80,000 to be reimbursed by the grant.
Milano ISD tax rate set for 10-cent drop
MILANO—School trustees in Milano are scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 29 in the high school library for a public hearing on their proposed $1.356150 tax rate.
That represents a 10-cent decrease from the current $1.45780 rate.
