The Thorndale City Council set Sept. 8 as the date for a public hearing on the budget and tax rate for the upcoming fiscal year.
At the council meeting Aug. 11, members approved a proposal setting the tax rate at .7181 per $100 of evaluation.
A council vote on the 2021- 22 budget is planned for a Sept. 8 vote after the hearing on the budget and tax rate is set to be voted on Sept. 15.
The city also voted to join in with the Central Texas Council of Government’s effort to create its own 911 Emergency Communications District.
This would separate the seven counties of the CTCOG from the state 911 system which would mean 911 funds would go to CTCOG rather than the state for dispersal.
Thorndale joins Rockdale, Cameron and Milam County in approving the plan CTCOG 911 plan.
The council voted to approved the resignation of police officer Monte Murphy and pay raises for city staffers.
